Das Verhältnis von Glaube und Taufe in bezug auf die Sakramentalität der Ehe ist innerhalb der katholischen Theologie keineswegs geklärt. Das kirchliche Eherecht leitet die Sakramentalität allein aus dem Getauftsein der Eheleute ab. Es spielt hier keine Rolle, inwieweit die heiratenden Partner selbst überhaupt glauben. Dieser Ansatz muß sich spätestens seit dem Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzil zunehmend der Kritik stellen. Hier wurde die Bedeutung des Glaubens für die Sakramente insgesamt neu entdeckt. Gleichzeitig nehmen wir wahr, daß Paare oft aus traditionellen Gründen heraus eine kirchliche Trauung wünschen, selbst aber glaubenslos geblieben sind. Kann die Ehe solcher «getaufter Nichtglaubender» ein Sakrament sein, ohne daß das Sakrament als magisches Ritual mißverstanden wird? [publisher's description]
